When I was home in Connecticut for 3 months I was seriously suffering withdrawal symptoms from not being able to visit Trader Joe’s. It’s like having a long-distance relationship with your best friend and going 3 months without being able to talk to them or see them. So when Trader Joe and I were fatefully reunited, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were SO many new fun products – I subsequently spent well over $150 when (as usual) I went in there for a few basic things.
Here are some of my favorite products that they have rolled out in the past few months and what I like to use them for:
I love to use these Cauliflower Thins in so many different ways. Mini pizzas, sandwiches, tacos, etc. The first thing I ever made on them was a tuna melt and let me tell you I did NOT even miss the bread. Not to mention, guilt free mini pizzas for lunch are what dreams are made of – (and I love using their cashew-mozzarella for these too! I buy these in bulk and stock my freezer with them so I never run out.
Lemony Arugula Salad Kit
THE. BEST. SALAD. KIT
Usually I am against salad kits. A lot of the times I feel like the veggies are old and dried out and honestly most of the time I just like to make my own salads with whatever I want in them. However: the other day I was in a pinch and wanted something healthy for lunch so I picked up this salad kit (what drew me to it was minimal ingredients) and emptied a Trader Joe’s packet of tuna on top for some protein. It was delicious! I also feel like arugula lasts longer than most greens in packaging so that is also a huge plus for me and this salad.
Honey Aleppo Sauce
I used this sauce when I made sweet potato black bean tacos for some flavor and DANG it did not disappoint. It was sweet and spicy and not overpowering at all. I would assume that it would be amazing if you made some pulled chicken or even on some shrimp if you were doing a stir-fry!
Patio Potato Chips
Yeah, yeah. I know what you’re thinking. NO THESE AREN’T HEALTHY. But I bought them and spent a day by the pool and ate half a bag of these with my boyfriend in one sitting. Shit happens, ya know?
If you’ve ever had “all dressed” potato chips from whole foods or Canada (someone told me it’s a Canadian thing) then this is pretty much the Trader Joe’s version. It’s a sweet and tangy mix of barbecue, salt and vinegar, ketchup and dill pickle. I swear it’s not gross even though that mix sounds wildly unconventional. Perfect for the beach or a pool day!
Vanilla Almond Milk Ice Cream
FINALLY. I have been waiting for a non-dairy ice cream like this from Trader Joe’s for so so long and am happy to report that this one does NOT disappoint. Made with almond milk, this treat is reminiscent of traditional vanilla ice cream sans post dairy-induced belly ache.
